I was hoping that my 60D would allow me to leave the video camera at home. Video quality from the 60D is good enough but these 2 afore mentioned problems are aggravating. Using the video camera, taking stills while recording is not detected on playback, zooming in and out is smoother and re-focusing is visually noticeable but not audible.

Each has positives and negatives to their IQ (like some have better center sharpness while others have better corner sharpness) but they do satisfy the need of wider low light. I hear the best things about the Sigma. The canon 28mm will give you the fastest/most quiet focusing and widest. The Canon 35mm is the most in between I guess for IQ. --
